Our bingo party earlier this year was a resounding success with about 14 residents attending. Thursday’s gathering was even better with 19 residents participating. We had enough prizes for all and tasty snacks provided by the social committee. Click here for pictures.

Our ANNUAL MEETING scheduled for Tuesday, June 17th starting at 4:00. We are pleased to announce that the meeting will again be held in the multi-purpose room over at the Rivers of Grosse Pointe. Dinner will be served after the meeting. Note that this is an important meeting for you to get the latest information, renew acquaintances and for the election of officers. We have two officers who will have completed their term - and another board member resigned. We will have three positions to fill. So plan to come and vote. Events at the Rivers of Grosse Pointe (Big House).

The Rivers of Grosse Pointe (referred to as The Rivers) publishes a monthly calendar that lists opportunities for their condo neighbors (us) to participate along with the residents of The Rivers. Look for the word “Condo” that indicates it applies to us. The calendar lists many opportunities including various fitness classes, Aqua Zumba, bingo, cards, movies, etc. Click here to view/download this calendar and take a look to see if there are any activities that interest you. Note that some items require that you call ahead (313-885-5005) and reserve a spot prior to attending. There is also a cost associated with a few items (as specifically noted on the calendar. The calendar is updated monthly and will be available on this site around the first of the month.

Meals are also available at The Rivers for the condo residents to purchase at a reasonable price. Lunch is available in the café. This is primarily set up for lunch as a take out but a limited number of tables are available. In good weather, there are a few tables set up on the patio outside the café as well. In addition to their regular lunch menu of sandwiches and salads, they feature a special offering each day. The specials menu changes weekly and can be viewed by clicking here.

Dinners are available for dining in. The menu changes periodically, every three or four weeks. The current offering is good through June 27th and can be viewed by clicking here. Note that The Rivers requires that you call ahead at 313-885-5005 for a reservation to assure a table is available. Reservations are available from 4:30 - 5:45. This month the International Dinner is on Wednesday, June 18, and features the cuisine of Pakistan. If you make a reservation for a specialty dinner and cannot make it, you must cancel at least 24 hours prior or you will be charged.

Longest Day of the Year

(To benefit the Alzheimer’s association)

Beginning Monday June 16 through Friday June 20, the Rivers of Grosse Pointe will be hosting several activities to raise money for the Alzheimer’s association. The events are:

Monday, June 16th - Bake sale in the cafe, cafe hours (items will range from $1.00 to $5.00 apiece).

Tuesday, June 17th - Taco bar in the Multipurpose room from 11:30 to 1:00 ($5.00 donation).

Wednesday June 18th - Sundae bar in the multipurpose rooom from 11:30 to 1:00 ($5.00 donation).

Thursday, June 19th - Lemonade Shake Ups during the car show ($5.00 donation).

Friday, June 20th - Bingo-a-thon with prizes in the multipurpose room from 1:00 to 3:00. ($30.00 donation).

In addition, there will be a raffle for some nice prizes. Tickets will be available during the week with the drawing to be held Monday, June 23rd. Tickets are $1 each, 7 for $5, or 15 for $10.
